We’ve all been there: you partied hard the night before, but now you can’t move from your bed/toilet/fetal position. What now? Coming from someone who gets the worst hangovers EVER, I think I may be able to offer some good advice!

Hangover Tip #1: Sleep.it.off.

Your body needs rest in order to get itself back to a normally functioning state, so instead of trying to go on with your day, give yourself a few extra hours of sleep and head back to bed.

No worries. Have your roommate get a shower started for you on super hot so all you have to do is strip and hop in. Slowly make your way to the bathroom and jump into a nice hot shower. Let the water run over your face and body for at least 20 minutes while you sweat out the toxins through your skin.

This will help you to relax and forget about the nausea you are experiencing. Once your entire body feels hot, you should begin to feel tired. Hop out of the shower, throw on some clean clothes (or the old pukey ones) and make your way to bed.

Sleep for at least a couple of hours and when you wake up, your nausea should subside and you will be ready to eat and drink.

Why do you have a headache? Because you are severely dehydrated from the alcohol you drank the night before. Getting a massage will put your mind and body at rest, even if it is only for a few minutes.

Ask your roommate, boyfriend or girlfriend

To gently massage your head and temples to ease the tension in your head. A scalp massage couldn’t hurt either. Have your friend massage your shoulders, neck or back. The relaxing sensations will help to distract you from the pain you are feeling in your head and release tension in your whole body.

Hangover Tip #4: Eat a Banana

If you want to kick your hangover, take a tip from your ancestors and start peeling bananas like it’s your job.

Why Bananas?

Bananas are full of potassium, which you lost a lot of the night before when you pissed it all away. Alcohol is also a diuretic (makes you pee) and this causes you to lose water, sodium and potassium, so it is no wonder a banana or two could help you out.

Too lazy to chew?

Make a bangin’ banana smoothie with a banana, 1/2 a cup of milk, some vanilla yogurt, ice, and if you want to get fancy, some nutmeg for a burst of flavor!
