Remember “Bro Rape” video? The main creator, and actor, Donald Glover since then has become quite the talented individual.

He wrote for the first season of Tina Fey’s 30 Rock, and then become a regular in the hit comedy “Community”.

And then at the end of “Community,” sometimes Donald’s character Troy and his best friend Abed “rap” at the end. If you followed Donald Glover’s website iamdonald, you’d find that he released two mixtapes. Most recently, the hype for his new EP “Freaks and Geeks” become huge when his remix of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” with Jamie XX (amazing, and turns it into a male point of view).

Well, EP is now out. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE download it here from his website for free. But lets focus on the “single” of the EP “Freaks and Geeks”.

What we are presented with is our generations Q-Tip. A unique voice, a wordsmith, and constantly energized with his “swag”. It’s an exciting time for hip-hop and rap. Again another rapper comes up to the plate with more than lyrics about “banging in the club”, etc.

He’s witty, and once the song takes off, it doesn’t stop. In every song he is constantly excited, fueled and energized about what he has to say.

Musically, the synths are laced with horns echoed and in the back to gently accompany a low throbbing bass line. Quick snap of the snare clicks throughout the song and almost has a Swiss Beatz production quality.

Occasionally a choir pops up in the background to add some flare. It constantly grooves from the beginning to end and lyrically he recognizes the rhythmic ability to deliver it.

Get this song, and get into the EP because he’s going to be huge. NOW.
