Winter Date Ideas: Valentine’s Day in Cold Weather Conditions

Apparently this has been one of the coldest winters in a really long time. But what do you do if you are stuck in a foot of snow, cold temperatures and you just aren’t feeling very romantic?

We lucked out in Florida; we were the only state to not get snowed on this year, so our Valentine’s Day will be unaffected by the winter weather. But for the rest of you, get ready because Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and even if you are not in Florida (which I apologize for), your date still has plenty of potential.

V-Day Date Option 1: Dinner and a Movie Night

Yes, it’s cliche, BUT what makes this night so special is that you are doing something together. Instead of going to a fancy restaurant, go food shopping together and then begin to cook.

Cooking together brings intimacy in the kitchen, which is romantic and personal.

Doing cliche things can sometimes get old but if you add your own spice to it, there shouldn’t be a negative thought in your partner’s mind.

Set the table together, light the candles and discuss the beautiful wonders of the world.

After dinner, get a blanket and cuddle on the couch to watch a movie both of you will enjoy.

This would also be the time to exchange gifts (if you have them), but cooking and spending time together should be gift enough for both of you.

V-Day Date Option 2: Outdoor Winter Date

I’ve never done this before, but I hear from many people that it is incredibly fun.

Who said playing in the snow was for kids? What better way to enjoy a day than outdoors with your significant other? The two of you can frolic and play in the snow, all while reconnecting your love through laughter and fun.

And you don’t have to stop with sledding; take your winter date to the next level by going ice skating, building a snowman, or having a snowball fight.

Find some really warm clothes and pick a safe hill. You do not want to be sliding and randomly crash into a tree. That happened to someone and it was eventually displayed on the show 1,000 Ways To Die. . . not cool.

After your winter date, warm up by heading inside and making some hot cocoa or warm tea.

V-Day Date Option 3: Rent a cabin

This date helps you get out of your hometown to travel together. Finding a cheap cabin can set the romantic mood in any situation because not only will you two be in a new place, but you can incorporate ALL the above date ideas.

Most cabin rentals have fire places, which adds the cherry on top because you can cuddle in front of a war fire after playing in the snow.

Head inside after a day in the snow and cook dinner or order-in. Pop in a movie or just enjoy the snowy evening.

V-Day Date Option 4: Spa treatment

Transform your dorm, apartment, or room into a spa lounge.

For this one, a little bit of research is needed, so head online to YouTube or talk to a professional for some great massage techniques. Set up some candles or something that will provide some aromatherapy, turn up the heat, and grab some massage oils or lotions.

Show your partner a side of you they have never seen before by learning and executing great spa techniques. Treat them to a foot or back massage and take care of them for the night. Make this spa night all about your partner and help them to relax and enjoy themselves.

Bake (or pick up) something sweet to treat them after their massage. Nothing says love like a massage and some of your partner’s favorite baked goods!
