There are always those awesome shows that really remind you of you freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year.

For some older folks, it was Friends. For ones closer to the college age, it was New Girl.

I’m going to give you some shows that are up and coming or already the best on the block when it comes to fall TV.

New Girl

So, I just mentioned New Girl. Let’s start here. Jess is the cutest little gal whose quirkiness shines through every outfit and word out of her mouth. Her three male roommates have qualities we all see in dudes. Nick– The Sweet Drunk Dude. Schmidt– The Rich Bro. Winston– The Smooth/Smart Operator. And let’s not forget the best friend that’s always by our side– Cece. I love this show. It’s very funny and funky. It covers the lower 20’s like a charm and will leave you laughing and wanting to know how to play True American. (Which I’m trying this weekend. Blog post to come!) This comes on FOX on Tuesdays at 9/8c.

Modern Family

This show is just down-right funny. Modern Family is award winning and leaves you giggling for days. The family is very 21st century. You’ve got 3 different kids, a trying-too-hard-to-be-hip mom and dad, a grandpa with a hot new wife and two awesome gay uncles. This is another comedy that is mock-umentary style. The way it’s laid out is sort of like The Office where they speak to the camera, too. Modern Family really hones in on the actual American modern family.  This comes on ABC on Wednesdays at 9/8c.

The Michael J. Fox Show

This show is more serious. Here’s Wikipedia’s description of the new show “After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Mike Henry had to give up his career as a news anchor and focus on his health and his family. Five years later, Mike decides to get back to work and struggles between family and career.” This would be great for certain class discussions and possibly open people’s eyes to this disease. Would you consider watching this? This show comes on Thursdays at 9/8c.

Glee

Yes. Glee. Now show was the epitome of my freshman year in college. This will be the season’s first premiere without Cory Monteith. I’m sure there will be a very touching show for him, as everyone there adored him including his real-life and on-air girlfriend Lea Michele. Prepare for some slow songs and an uplifting message. This show comes on FOX on Thursdays at 9/8c.

Law and Order: SVU

Things Millennial girls love: Law and Order: SVU. We all know. If there’s a marathon on, we’re staying in our sweats with a glass of wine, carryout pasta and chocolate. Of course, SVU is freaking awesome. This is going to be a great season. You may remember the cliffhanger from last season. If not, click the link above and you can watch the preview. This show comes on NBC on Wednesdays at 9/8c.
